As a new Comfort Furnace owner I have recently become interested in the technology behind the product. I wanted to know what makes these heaters safer, more efficient, and more cost-effective than other styles of heaters on the market. After having unsatisfactory experiences with oil-filled radiators and switching to the infrared Comfort Furnace, I knew that there was a complete difference in their production and I set out to understand it.

My story with the Comfort Furnace begins in December of 2010. The previous year had purchased the oil-filled radiant heaters to heat certain rooms in my home, but found them to be inefficient in both cost and performance and slightly dangerous, because they were very hot to the touch and always seemed close to tipping over. I bought ourfirst Comfort Furnace as an experiment to see if it could improve on any of the faults I found in other styles of heaters. The results were surprising and exciting for us. Our one unit is capable of comfortably heating our entire living room (about 750 square feet) with even warmth and without hot and cold spots. It is housed in a sturdy walnut casing that is cool to the touch and poses no threat of tipping over. Finally, after reviewing last year’s electricity bills, it averages out to about one dollar per day to run.

All of these great features got me interested in the science behind the heater. What makes infrared heaters work so well? The main difference is the way in which the heat is produced and dispersed. Oil-filled heaters In the heating element warms the oil, which thenwarms the metal surrounding it. The heat is then radiated off of the metal and into the surrounding air. This is an extremely inefficient and passive method of heating that takes quite a long time to warm up and offers very little control. In order to heat the room two things (oil and metal) must be heated first.

On the other hand, with an infrared heater, the coils are heated within two minutes and heat is gently circulated throughout the room with a fan. And because infrared heaters give off heat at a much lower wavelength they are able to produce an even heat. This mimics the way the sun heats the Earth. Long wavelengths not only heat the air but are able to heat objects in the room as well. These objects are then able to retain and radiate heat themselves, which adds to theefficiency of the heater. These factors combine to produce an even and consistent heat throughout the room. hot and cold spots experienced with other styles of heaters are eliminated.

Finally, one of the big selling points for the Comfort Furnace is that it is a safe alternative to other space heaters. Small heaters are a major source of house fires, but, although they can get as hot as 1500 degrees, this brand stays cool to the touch and cannot start a fire. The quartz infrared heating elements are housed inside a fire proof heat exchange that makes the unit extremely safe.

It is now starting to get cooler, and you are now on the market for an affordable space heater. With all the varieties available today, which one is best for you? It is easy for you to become confused and even intimidated by all of the choices offered to you-even to the point of possibly giving up! To help you in making your decision, here is a quick tutorial on the common features of space heaters on the market. Hopefully, this information will help you find the best space heater.

As mentioned before, there are many different types of space heaters. Here are some of the most common types:

Review For Infrared Heater Reviews The Best Space Heater

-Ceramic Space Heaters-use ceramic heating elements
-Oil Based Space Heaters-use heating oil to heat the element
-Coil Heating Space Heaters-the most commonelectrical heaters
-Halogen Based Space Heaters-the newest technology using halogen light bulbs

The most common space heaters offer heat up to 1500W, accidental shock protection, as well as circuit-based protection to keep it from overheating. Most of them also offer the standard 120V power, which allows you to operate your space heater safely-the heater is properly grounded to avoid any type of electrical fires.

What are the differences between these types of space heaters, you may ask? Which is the best space heater?

Ceramic heaters are much safer than the coil system heaters. The center of The ceramic element is bigger than the coils, so the heater can be set to a lower temperature while releasing the equivalent energy covering a wider area. They are alsomore efficient than the conventional electric heater because they keep the temperature stable for a longer period of time.

Oil-based heaters are built much like a radiator, using heating oil to stimulate the heating element. The mechanism inside the heater warms the oil, which then emits heat throughout the area. The efficiency of these heaters is also very high, as the heating mechanism does not need to be on at all times. One the element is heated to the optimal temperatures, heat is released slowly by the ILO. This keeps the area warm and comfortable, even if the heating mechanism is not on. Other benefits include that there is little to no maintenance needed on these units, as the oil does not ever need to be refilled. Because there is no fan in oil-based heaters, these are veryquiet space heaters.

Coil space heaters use metallic coils inside the heater, which are triggered by infrared wavelengths to produce heat. These are also known as “fan-forced heaters. This is because the coils heat the air that is forced through the coils, then push the heated air out into the room. Due to the potential for injury, all coil heaters have a protective screen to keep you from accidental contact with the heating elements.

Halogen-based heaters are the newest style on the market. These are the most efficient of all the heaters and are based on the same technology as the efficient halogen light bulb. The concept behind halogen-based heaters is the same as how the sun provides heat. Rather than heat the air around it, the halogen-based heater uses light as adelivery system for heat. This technology allows for increased comfort when compared to the older space heaters, as the heat is felt immediately-just as if you were to walk out into the sunlight on a cold, wintry day.

Hopefully, this description helped you to understand the types of heaters available. All you need to do is determine how efficient you want your heater to be and how often you want to maintain it. Once you answer these two questions, you will narrow your selection down easily, and find the best space heater for your home.

Cold weather will soon be here and the worry about higher heating cost has many of us looking for ways to reduce our heating bill. One way to slash heating bills and stay warm is to use an electric space heater. With soaring natural gas, propane and heating oil prices, electric heaters seem the natural choice as electricity costs are not predicted to increase as much as other fuels.

Another advantage is that heating a chilly room is less expensive than turning up the thermostat. For every degree you turn down your thermostat, you can save 3 percent to 5 percent on heating costs.

Review For Infrared Heater Reviews Stay Warm This Winter With an Electric Space Heater

There are two main types of electric heaters: radiant and convection.

Radiant Heaters. As far As I’m concerned, using a radiant heater in the home is a waste of electricity. They onlyheat objects as opposed to heating the surrounding air. A radiant space heater would be a good choice to use in an office where everyone is warm but one person or maybe to use as a foot warmer while sitting at a desk.

Convection Heaters. This type of electric heater warms the air in the room and uses either the natural air currents in a room or a fan to circulate warm air. The most popular space heaters are oil-filled and look like radiators. They are heavy but you don’t have to worry about them falling over. The oil contained in this type of heater is permanently sealed within the heater and never needs to be refilled. The oil is heated when the unit is turned on. Although they can be slow to heat up, the oil inside stays warm for a long time once it reaches the temperaturesetting.

Be aware of extravagant claims and recalls. Consumer Reports magazine has the best review of electric space heaters. You can also check with Good Housekeeping magazine and Popular Mechanics magazine for reviews and buyer information.

There are at least two extravagant claims that I’m aware of. One manufacturer has a full page ad designed to resemble a news report about a miracle fireplace the fireless flame ‘ uses ‘ technology and gives you the peaceful flicker of a real fire but without any flames, fumes, ashes or mess and all you have to do is plug it in. The heater rolls from room to room and uses the same energy as a coffee maker. They also claim it produces an amazing 5.119 BTUs.

The only thing special about their electric heater is the descriptiveexaggerations. Most electric heaters provide up to 1500 watts, 5120 BTUs of heat or. This is the maximum amount of wattage that can be used safely in a standard household electrical outlet.

The manufacturer of quartz infrared heater, another manufacturer that advertises heavily exaggerated claims, states that its space heater can cut your heating bill up to 50% while keeping you toasty warm. ” Not so, according to reviews at Amazon.com and InfomercialRatings.com who say that the infrared heater either failed within a few weeks ago did not heat a very large area. It would take several years to recoup the high purchase price of the space heater not in a matter of weeks as they claim.

What to look for in a space heater.

or Look for a UL (Underwriters Laboratories) mark. Thismark on a product indicates that UL technicians tested the model for possible safety problems.

or thermostat is a must have. With a thermostat you can control the temperature of a room and keep it constant. Most modern portable heaters have this feature.

or Automatic and shutoff valves. The better space heaters come with an automatic feature and shutoff valves, in case the unit is turned over or overheats.

or Other safety features. Helpful features include indicator lights to let you know when the unit is on. Also, grilles that cover the blades of the fan and the heating element protect against contact with people and pets.

Where to look for product reviews.

or Amazon.com has customer reviews of many space heaters on the market.

or ConsumerReports.org has expert unbiasedproduct ratings and reviews. Content is available only to subscribers.

or Google whatever you’re interested in buying. For instance, cell phone reviews, Honda Fit reviews, or computer reviews.

Play it safe, get product reviews before buying.

Every year, as it gets closer and closer to winter, I go through the same process. It starts with windows in plastic sealing sheeting. Then I tape unused doors. Finally, I get in the habit of avoiding the mailbox every day after work because I am afraid of what my heating bill is going to be.

I live in an old, drafty house with an ancient, inefficient heater. I do everything I can to winterize my house and try to bring my heating bill down a dollar or two, but nothing seems to satisfy me. I know a couple years ago I went out and bought four oil-filled radiant heaters from the hardware store. I thought they would be great because I could move them from room to room and keep everyone warm while cutting back on running the furnace.

Review For Infrared Heater Reviews Comfort Furnace Review

As soon As I got them home I knew it wasgoing to be a problem. They were tall and narrow and got very hot to the touch. There was no way I could comfortably put one of these in my 4 year olds ‘ room. Soon I realized how inefficient they were, too. They took quite a long time to heat up and once they got hot the only things near them stayed warm: they were useless in bigger rooms. Finally, I was anxious to get my utility bills the next month. I was not surprised to see the gas bill go down a little because of the heaters, but I was surprised by how much my electric bill went up. These little things sucked up a lot of juice!

I kept with them, although sparingly, through the rest of the winter simply because I did not want to waste the money I had spent on them. By the time the next winter was rolling around I was back on themarket for another heater, and with the knowledge and experience I had gained the previous year I had three criteria in mind: it had to be safe to put in my kid’s room, it had to be able to heat a larger area, and it had to be cost efficient.

Through a friend I had heard of Comfort Furnace infrared heaters and decided to give them a shot. It was on the top end of my price range, but it met at least one of my criteria right away: it was short, square, and cool to the touch. There was no need to worry about it tipping over or having someone burn themselves on it.

I brought it home at the end of November and planned to use it through December to see how it ran. After the first night I was convinced by its performance. The little heater had my living room comfortably warm withinan hour. There were no hot and cold spots, and everyone felt the heat wherever they sat. I specifically remember it being 34 degrees outside and I had the house thermostat set at 58 degrees. The Comfort Furnace brought our living room (about 750 square feet) temperatures to 69 degrees all on its own.

The final test came in January when I got the December bills. Again, I knew the gas bill would be lower because the furnace rarely came on anymore, but I was shocked when I saw the electric bill. It had gone down $ 15 compared to the same month the previous year. It worked out that the Comfort Furnace ran on about $ 1 a day in electricity.

Determining the selection to meet your requirements can be confusing. There are many styles and designs available. The wide selection of a heat source includes; Fireplaces, Fire Pits using wood or propane, Chimenias, and using electric Heaters or propane as the fuel. The construction varies with your design choice from stone, tile, ceramic, clay and marble to stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and copper.

A fireplace built on your patio or in the garden can be functional and attractive. Similar to ones built inside the home, the outdoor fireplace may be space and cost restrictive. A fireplace is usually not a do-it-yourself project but takes an experienced builder to construct a fireplace that burns and draws properly so that it will burn the wood efficiently. Stone andbrick fireplaces used for cooking and for warmth are a beautiful addition to your outdoor living space. As with indoor fireplaces, an outdoor fireplace requires cleaning and maintenance, this will keep the fireplace looking attractive and in optimal working condition.

Fire pits have been in existence for a long time and the versatility of a fire pit continues to make it a popular choice for outdoor warmth. A fire pit can vary from a temporary pit dug into the ground surrounded by rocks or stones to one of the popular pre-made commercial models available in a wide variety of styles and designs. To make a fire pit, create a suitable hole that can contain a fire safely or build one by carving out a brick or rock pillar. The pre-made models are mostly made of metal and can be wood orgas burning. Often these fire pits are portable and can go from the backyard to the patio or to the beach. A fire pit constructed of stone or concrete is usually locked into a specific location. The common feature of any fire pit is to contain a fire and prevent it from spreading. Fire pits are also available built into a table usually with a decorative tile top and a compartment under the table for the propane tank or as a freestanding features for your outdoor living space.

Chimenea is a freestanding front-loading fireplace or oven with a bulbous body and usually a vertical smoke vent or chimney. Chimeneas are available in the original clay design or an updated version is available in cast iron or aluminum. Metal chimeneas are much more durable than ones made of clay but are moreexpensive. Clay chimeneas may experience cracking, flaking glaze and crumbling of the clay if exposed to thermal shock such as heavy rainfall. Usually Chimeneas have a total height of about five feet and are about two feet across the firebox.

Chimeneas have a long history in Mexico as the primary source of heat and cooking. Fires start very quickly after ignition with papers and small pieces of wood. In full burn after just 15 minutes, they give off tremendous heat. The design allows a considerable amount of air to be drawn in maximizing the warmth with a minimum amount of fuel and time. Commonly, pinonwood is burned for its aromatic scent and its bug WinSafe XP qualities.

Chimineas have become a popular backyard and deck accessory and are often acquired as garden ornaments. This may meet your requirements for warmth at a minimum amount of cost.

Propane and Electric Infrared Heaters provide warmth directly onto people and objects. These heaters are rated by BTU heat output and the radius of warmth provided.

The term “BTU” is used to describe the heat value (energy content) of fuels, and to describe the power of heating and cooling systems, such as furnaces, stoves, BBQ grills, air conditioners and outdoor heaters. A BTU is defined as amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one pound of liquid water by 1 F at a constant pressure of one atmosphere. To BTU can be approximated as the heat produced by burning a single wooden match or as the amount of energy it would take to lift a one-pound weight to a height of 778feet.

Outdoor heaters usually stand between 6 and 7 feet high while some models are available with a telescoping pole to adjust to the desired height. The heaters provide intense warmth that radiates out from the heater to create a circle of radiant heat. It is important to review the manufacturer specifications to determine the BTU output and the circle of radiant heat. A reflective shield on the top of the heater intensifies the heat. Push button ignition and adjustable heat control are necessary features in making your selection of an outdoor heater.

Electric infrared heaters are plugged or into a standard electrical outlet to provide fast efficient warmth in a matter of seconds. Electric heaters usually cost less to operate than propane heaters and produces no harmful UVrays. Electric heaters have an efficiency rate that is usually in the 90% range. It is important to review the manufacturer’s specifications to determine the rate of efficiency of the selected heater. If your outdoor living space has a limited electrical supply without extensive electrical extension cords, this may not be a good choice for you for safety reasons. Children, pets and even adults can experience injury from falls as a result of tripping over an extension cord.

Patio heaters are often seen at outdoor restaurants and cafes to extend their outdoor dining hours but have recently become popular with homeowners wishing to extend their outdoor living time.

Propane tanks usually are not included with the heaters.
